ScanOwl

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-09-12

ScanOwl is designed to process documents on your device. This policy explains the limited information used to provide scanning, signing, subscription, and support features.

Documents and on-device processing

PDFs, photos, scans, signatures, watermarks, and text recognized by OCR are processed on your device. ScanOwl does not upload document contents or signatures to developer-operated servers.

Permissions

Camera access is used to scan documents. Photos and Files access is used only when you choose to import or save content. Notification permission is used only for local reminders you enable. You can change permissions in system settings.

Purchases and subscriptions

Apple processes payments and does not provide ScanOwl with your full payment-card details. RevenueCat may process an anonymous app user ID, purchase history, receipt or subscription status, and limited device and operating-system information to validate purchases, restore access, and measure subscription performance.

Anonymous usage analytics

ScanOwl sends limited usage and subscription events to its own operations service, hosted by Cloudflare, to measure the subscription funnel and diagnose failures. Events include a random installation ID, session ID, subscription service user ID, event type, timestamps, app and operating-system versions, language and store region. They never include document text, OCR output, file names, images, signatures or email addresses. These IDs are not advertising identifiers and are not used for cross-app tracking. Resetting local statistics or uninstalling the app does not delete events already received by the service. Contact supportxss@gmail.com about server-side deletion. Optional usage analytics is off until you agree. You can change your choice at any time in More > Settings. Turning it off stops new optional usage uploads and clears pending events on this device. It does not delete server records already received; contact supportxss@gmail.com to request deletion. Scanning, exporting, and paid features remain available regardless of this choice. Purchase verification and subscription management continue as needed to provide access. Raw usage events are normally deleted automatically after 180 days. Installation summaries and subscription records are retained as needed for analytics, access management, and applicable legal obligations. You can contact support to request deletion.

Support communications

If you contact support, we receive the email address, message, and attachments you choose to send. This information is used to answer your request, diagnose the issue, and maintain necessary support records.

Storage and deletion

Documents, settings, history, and signature templates are stored locally unless you explicitly export them. You can delete items in the app or system storage, and uninstalling the app removes its local app data. Support records are retained only as reasonably needed for support and legal obligations.

Sharing, sale, and tracking

We do not sell or rent personal information or use it for targeted advertising or cross-app tracking. Service providers process only the limited information needed for app operations, subscription validation and analytics. Documents are shared only when you choose to share or export them, or as required by law.

Security and children

ScanOwl limits collection and relies on device security and protected service connections. No method is completely secure. The app is for a general audience and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what is needed to provide the service.

Your choices and policy changes

You can revoke permissions, delete local content, and contact support about privacy questions. We may update this policy when features or legal requirements change; the date above will be revised when material updates are made.
